We start with you the moment you are on our website. We will help you with your choice of educational program you want to join in Canada.
Once you have made your choice will be with you to register with the Educational Institute and get an acceptance letter, once we send you the acceptance letter, your next step will be to prepare your documentation for applying for study permit.
While waiting for Study Permit you can join one our Partners where you can study online and complete few courses. These are approved by the College and will also make your file strong for Study Permit.
Airport Pickup
The International Student Office ensures that International Students are greeted at the Toronto Pearson Airport by either their host home stay families or by a representative from the International Office of iFocus Settlement
Initial Orientation
An orientation program delivered by the staff of the International Education and Services Department provides vital information regarding community services, academic issues and general life at your educational Institute. Tours and various social activities are organized at the beginning of each semester.
Residence & Meal Plan
iFocus Settlement has newly renovated, modern residence available to students attending School, college or University. 140 shared rooms are available with either two single or double beds, a shared washroom, free cable television, a phone for free local calling, internet network and laundry facilities are available for a small fee.
Conversation Partner Program
The Conversation Partner Program is a volunteer program which involves an international student and a Canadian student in a one on one situation to help improve the students’ English comprehension and speaking skills. This is a very positive experience for everyone involved as special events throughout the year are also arranged to experience different cultures coming together.
Peer Tutoring
The Learning Bridge, offers free academic tutoring designed to help students reach their academic goals and give them confidence in their abilities.
Study Visa/ Work Permit Assistance
Once you are in Canada, students may apply to Citizenship and Immigration Canada for an Off Campus Work Permit. Students are offered information and support in completing the necessary forms. Students are also given support when renewing their study permits.
Applying to Universities
Peel District School Board and iFocus Settlement participates with colleges and universities across Canada. These agreements allow international students to transfer High School credits obtained at Peel District School Board towards obtaining a diploma or university degree at another educational institution.
Near completion of the final semester, the international office can assist international students understand the various options available to them and students are encouraged and supported to apply to several universities and colleges.
Student Group Activities
iFocus Settlement organizes a number of special group activities for international students each semester. These activities include regular sporting activities and day trips to Toronto and other special destinations in the province of Ontario.
Work Opportunities
The International Office has a list of employers interested in offering International Student part time work in Grater Toronto Area. The International Student Office can also assist International Students find work.
